Not every child connects with loud stories.
Some children are naturally quieter.
More observant.
More thoughtful.
They notice small things.
They feel emotions deeply.
They carry worries they don’t always know how to explain.
And often, those children turn to stories not just for entertainment, but for comfort.
As adults, we sometimes underestimate how much children process internally. A child may seem calm on the outside while quietly navigating fear, uncertainty, loneliness, or self-doubt underneath.
That’s why the stories we place in children’s hands matter so much.
Not every child needs stories filled with constant noise, fast pacing, or characters who always appear fearless.
Some children need stories that breathe.
Stories where courage grows slowly.
Where kindness matters.
Where gentle children still become brave.
As both a writer and someone who works closely with young people, I’ve seen how powerful the right story can be.
A single book can help a child feel:
understood
calmer
more confident
less alone
Sometimes a child doesn’t need advice straight away.
Sometimes they need a character who quietly shows them:
“You can feel afraid and still keep going.”
That belief shaped The Adventures of Morish from the very beginning.
I wanted to write an adventure story that still held warmth and emotional depth. A story filled with mystery, forests, friendship, and discovery, but also one that made space for gentler children to see themselves reflected in the journey.
Morish is not fearless.
She gets lost.
She feels uncertain.
She questions herself.
But step by step, she keeps moving forward.
And I think many children need stories like that right now.
Parents and teachers are carrying so much responsibility in helping children navigate a world that often feels overstimulating and emotionally overwhelming. Stories can’t solve everything, but they can offer something important:
a safe place to process emotions, imagine possibilities, and feel understood.
That’s one of the reasons I created Morish Press.
To build stories for children who may not always feel represented in louder spaces. Stories rooted in imagination, emotional growth, resilience, and hope.
If that sounds like the kind of storytelling you value for the children in your life, I’d love for you to stay connected.
I regularly share:
